COMMERCIAL ITEM DESCRIPTION
DICHCLORODIFLUOROMETHANE, TECHNICAL
The General Services Administration has authorized the use of this commercial item description.
This commercial item description covers an aerosol freezing spray for use in histological and laboratory procedures.
Salient characteristics:
Shall be six 12 ounce cans of dichlorofluoromethane i.e (F-12 Freon™), aerosol spray for instant freezing of tissue samples for histological studies.
Each six pack shall come with a six 5 inch (12.7 cm) nozzles and a snap on plastic pistol grip handle for actuation of the nozzle.
Each can shall have a net weight of at least 12 ounces with instructions for proper use printed on the can. Each can shall have the manufacturers name or registered trademark and be neat and legible.
The pistol grip type handle shall afford a comfortable and efficient grip and have a designed lifetime of at least twelve cans of freezing aerosol spray. The actuation method of the pistol grip handle shall not bend, twist or deform in any way while in use and shall support the total weight of the spray can in any position.
Dichlorofluoromethane shall have no more than 100 parts per million in contaminants to include petroleum by-products from the manufacturing process.
Workmanship. The freezing aerosol spray shall be free from defects which detract from its appearance or impair its serviceability.
Unit. Package (PG). One package containing six 12 ounce cans with six 5 inch spray nozzles and one snap-on pistol grip-type handle, as specified, constitutes one unit.
