COMMERCIAL ITEM DESCRIPTION
CALIBRATING GAS MIXTURE
The General Services Administration has authorized the use of this Commercial Item Description.
This Commercial Item Description covers compressed gas mixtures for calibrating a blood gas apparatus.
Salient Characteristics:
Shall be compressed gas mixtures in disposable cylinders for calibrating a blood gas apparatus.
Shall be the following gas mixtures (see “Ordering Data”):

Mixture A: |
5% Carbon Dioxide |
|
12 % Oxygen |
|
|
Mixture B: |
Balanced Nitrogen |
|
10% Carbon Dioxide |
|
|
90% Nitrogen |
Shall supply at least 560 liters for each gas mixture.
Shall have each gas mixture supplied in a disposable type “E” compressed gas cylinder.
Shall comply with the Department of Transportation (DOT) Specification 39 for disposable gas filled cylinder.
Workmanship. The gas filled cylinders shall be free from defects which detract from their appearance or impair their serviceability.
Unit. Each (EA). One calibrating gas mixture, as specified, constitutes one unit.
